Message From Our Chairperson
Erin Ascher, Senior VP, Human Resources, Omnicare, Inc.
As a professional in the healthcare industry, I’ve seen firsthand the far-reaching effects of heart disease on people of all ages. That is why I am so pleased to partner with the American Heart Association on the Go Red For Women campaign. Chairing the Go Red For Women Luncheon has been a great way to see the impact that Go Red has made in the Cincinnati community. Undoubtedly, women are now more aware of their heart health, but we have a long way to go. I encourage each of you to join the Go Red movement Go Red For Women to learn more and to take a free risk assessment. Small steps can bring big changes in your heart health. I hope to see you all at the Go Red Luncheon on April 26, 2012 at the Duke Energy Convention Center.
Message From Our Cincinnati Goes Red Sponsor
Susan Croushore, President and CEO, The Christ Hospital

The Christ Hospital is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Go Red For Women Luncheon and the Cincinnati Goes Red movement. As Greater Cincinnati's Heart Hospital, we are dedicated to supporting the efforts of the American Heart Association in fighting heart disease.
The Cincinnati Goes Red movement is a year-long educational campaign. Throughout the year, we offer several exciting programs to help Greater Cincinnati become better educated on heart health.
We know it can be a challenge to find "true" heart-healthy options when dining out. In 2010, The Christ Hospital kicked off the city's first Heart Healthy Restaurant Program. To date, 28 restaurants have joined, offering heart healthy menu options that meet the AHA Step 1 Heart Healthy Dietary standards.
Additionally, we understand that learning heart healthy habits - especially healthy eating and exercise - must begin at a young age. Therefore, The Christ Hospital and the American Heart Association are partnering with the Girl Scouts of America to educate young girls about their hearts and how to keep them healthy. The program details are now available online at The Christ Hospital-Go Red Patch.
We also want to focus on educating young men and their mothers about heart disease. We partner with Elder and St. Xavier High Schools at their annual rivalry football game for a heart-healthy tailgate. We work with the "Mom's Clubs" at both schools to prepare heart-healthy tailgate meals that meet the AHA Step 1 Heart Healthy Dietary standards. This year Elder won and received a $500 scholarship for their school.
For two years and counting, The Christ Hospital and the American Heart Association have sponsored a program called Have Faith in Heart. Nurse ministers at religious organizations throughout Greater Cincinnati are called upon to spread the word about how to fight heart disease. The organizations Go Red on Sundays in February to share heart-healthy messages and motivate their congregations toward heart-healthy actions.
Also for February, which is National Heart Month, we were able to share important information about heart health through Get Healthy Cincinnati, our community wellness educaiton initiative.
Although these programs have helped to educate thousands of people already, we still have a long way to go. Heart disease remains the number one killer of women. It is our goal to change this statistic through continued efforts to increase awareness of the disease in women and to educate them on how to reduce their risk. Take the first step today. Learn what you can do by visiting The Christ Hospital - Heart.
Message From Nancy Brown
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 2012 Cincinnati Go Red For Women Luncheon. We’re delighted you are here and appreciate your interest in learning how you can advance health, stop heart disease and save women’s lives. That’s what the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement is all about.
Heart disease isn’t just a man’s problem. It’s a woman’s problem, too. In fact, it’s the No. 1 killer of women. And, tragically, far too few women realize their risk from this preventable disease. We need to raise women’s awareness of their risk and protect our mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and ourselves.
You can help, starting today. Here’s how:
First, take charge of your own heart health. Visit your doctor. Know your numbers (learn more at www.GoRedForWomen.org). You can improve your blood pressure, cholesterol and other numbers by making lifestyle changes. You’ll be healthier and look and feel better, too.
Second, join the American Heart Association in making it your mission to fight heart disease in women. Help spread the word that heart disease is women’s No. 1 killer. Share what you learn today with your family and members of your community. Tell five women you want them to live and we can help stop heart disease in our lifetime.
Third and last, consider making a contribution. Your donation today will make a difference in the lives of women here and across the country. You can help fund local and national Go Red activities that support awareness, research, education and community programs that benefit women.
Thank you again for being here. My hope is that you won’t leave today without committing to making a difference by joining the Go Red For Women movement — women everywhere need your help. Only one in five women believes that heart disease is her greatest health threat. We believe reducing risk and preventing heart disease starts with education — and you. There’s so much to do, and so much at stake.
With your commitment, we can help women and their families live longer, stronger lives. Thank you for your generous support.
Warm regards,
Nancy Brown
